NOTICE OF RACE


1. RULES
1.1 This World Championship will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing, The IFDCO Class Rules 2012, The ISAF Equipment Rules of Sailing and IFDCO Championship Rules.
1.2 No national authority prescription will apply.
1.3 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take  precedence.

2. ADVERTISING
2.1 Advertising is permitted in accordance with ISAF Regulations 20, as restricted by the IFCDO Class Rule 1.4.
2.2 Competitors may be required to display advertising and bow numbers chosen and supplied by the Organizing Authority.

3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The World Championship is open to all boats of the International Flying Dutchman Class with valid Measurement Certificate and Measurement Form, all helms and crews who are fully paid members of the IFDCO for 2013.
3.2 Eligible boats may enter through the official electronic form on the FD Worlds website: fdworlds2013.jimdo.com/entry    
3.3 The fully completed entry form shall be received no later than 18th April 2013 accompanied by the required fee. Entries may be accepted after the closing date at the discretion of the Organizing Authority, but will be subject to € 50,- late entry supplements.

4. FEES
4.1 International Flying Dutchman World Championships: € 350,-
Warm-up – Dolesch Memorial Regatta    € 60,-

All bank charges are at the expense of the competitor. Sail number and helm’s surname shall be included with payment.

5. SCHEDULE
5.1 Warm-up  Dolesch Memorial Regatta
Saturday 18 May – Monday 20 May 2013
5.2 World Championship
Registration and measurement:
• Friday, 24 May  14:00 – 19:00
• Saturday, 25 May  09:00 – 19:00
• Sunday, 26 May  09:00 – 17:00
5.3 Racing:
• Monday, 27 May – Racing day. Two races (2)
• Tuesday, 28 May – Racing day. Two races (2)
• Wednesday, 29 May – Racing day. Two races (2)
• Thursday, 30 May – Reserve day
• Friday, 31 May – Racing day. Two races (2)
• Saturday, 1 June – Racing day. One race (1)
5.4 Number of races scheduled: Nine (9)
Races per day: Two (2)
Due to weather conditions the Race Committee may post their intentions and bring forward the start of a race, and if necessary run three races in a day.
5.5 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 9.55 am on Monday, 27 May. On all following days the scheduled time of the first warning signal will be 9.55 am
The last possible time for the warning signal on the last day will be given in the Sailing Instructions.

6. MEASUREMENT
6.1 Boats competing in the World Championships will be subject to measurement before the championship begins.
6.2 All boats entering the World Championship must present at the measurement procedure:
• Valid Measurement Certificate,
• Measurement Form,
• Membership Cards of helm and crew.
6.3 The IFDCO Class Measurer has the  right to have boats, rigs and sails etc. remeasured at any time during the World Championship.

7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The Sailing Instructions will be available from 24th May at registration.

8. RACING AREA
The racing area will be on the waters of Balatonfoldvar in the vicinity of the Harbour.

 

9. COURSES
The courses to be sailed will be triangular as described in the Sailing Instructions.

10. SCORING
10.1 The Low Point Scoring System of  RRS Appendix A will apply.
10.2 If more than seven races are completed then there shall be two discards, if seven, six or five races are completed there shall be one discard. If only four races are completed then all shall count. When only three or less races are completed the Championship is not valid.
    
11. INTERNATIONAL JURY
An International Jury will be appointed for the World Championship and its decisions will be final (RRS 70.5 and Appendix N).

12. SUPPORT BOATS
12.1 Coach/ Support boats shall register  with the Organizing Authority during the Entry period.
12.2 Coach/ Support boats shall prominently display an identification flag bearing the three-letter code or the National flag of the competitor’s nation they are supporting.
12.3 Coach/ Support boats shall be kept at least 100 m clear of  the course area during racing except when asked to assist by the Race Committee or in case of emergency.

13. BERTHING
Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the boat park.

14. PRIZES
The following prizes will be awarded:
• Dunhill Challenge Trophy (World Championship Overall Winner) 


• Championship medals will be awarded to the top ten teams
• FD Silver Sombrero Challenge Trophy (World Championship for best result without discards)
• Tullio Pizzorno Memoial Trophy (Best helmsman under 26 years of age)
• 100+ Trophy (Best team 100+ combined ages)
• Best FD Lady (Ladies)
Additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Organising  Authority. Details will be given in the Sailing Instructions.

15. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the Championship entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

16. INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured for at least third-party liability with a minimum cover of € 1.000.000,– or the equivalent. Proof of such insurance will be required at registration.
